On Sunday, May 19, 2019, Google officially declared the Huawei ban due to some security risks. Google determined that the proper course of action would be to cut Huawei off from Google’s suite of digital products.

Huawei ban

This means that Huawei no longer would have access to the very fundamentals of Android smartphones. Google Mobile Services (GMS), Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive, and even the Google Play Store itself were now no longer available for Huawei to use on new products.

But deep inside America is continuously trying its partner companies and producers to disconnect from Huawei like ARM, which provides the design and architecture of nearly all the chipsets and microprocessors that are developed in the world and other.

Effect of Huawei ban on Google, USA :

Huawei in itself is a really humongous brand and has a great place in the gadgets and smartphone market.

Huawei always stands in the top 3 smartphone sales throughout the world. In 2019 Huawei sold around 240 million smartphones as compared to that of Apple's 197 million.

And also, 50 % of Huawei phones are sold in its manufacturing country, China itself with the world's biggest population.

So, by continuing the ban on Huawei, Google will also lose a lot of its Huawei Android and GMS customers and a significant fall in the market too.

Huawei HarmonyOS (Oak OS or HongMeng OS in China)

Till now smartphones were available only two categories on the basis of Operating System :

  1. Google Android

  2. Apple iOS

But Huawei was working for years to bring its own Operating System in the competition and on August 9, 2019, Huawei officially launched it's own Harmony OS.

Harmony OS like Google Android is an open-source but microkernel-based distributed OS with increased efficiency and with a large number of modules for each device type, which can be used in everything from smartphones to smart speakers, wearables, and in-vehicle systems to create a shared ecosystem across devices.

Huawei Harmony OS also claims that it is faster and securer than Google's Android and also all the android apps will be compatible with this OS.

Huawei has decided to launch its Harmony OS on other Chinese Smartphone brands like Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo along with its own Huawei and Honor devices. And, if that happens then approximately more than 1/3 rd of the world will have Harmony OS running in their Device.

HMS (Huawei Mobile Services)

after the ban, Huawei phones were not granted to use some services called Google Mobile Services (GMS) under which the Android Smartphone users are allowed to use the features and apps of Google as well as some 3rd party apps that use Google services like Uber using Google Maps.

Huawei has created its own HMS (Huawei Mobile Services) where Huawei provides tools and freedom to code the apps according to the hardware of the device to take complete advantage of the device hardware as well.

Also, HMS has a 62% lower latency in communication between different layers of OS than GMS.

Huawei AppGallery

Huawei phones no longer support the Google Play Store too which is one of a major loss to Huawei but, Huawei was already working on its own Huawei AppGallery just like Google Play Store, and currently AppGallery is used by 420 million active users on 700 million Huawei devices and comes pre-installed with all new Huawei mobile devices.

HiSilicon:

Hisilicon is a semiconductor company based in Shenzhen, Guangdong, and fully owned by Huawei.

Hisilicon is the Huawei owned company that produces its AP chips called Kirin, communication chips, and more.

But currently, the ARM will continue to license its chip architectures to Huawei

Huawei Ecosystem:

Just like Samsung with Android and Apple has its own ecosystem Huawei is coming with its full-fleshed Huawei ecosystem that comprises of its Electronics, wearables, Smartphones, Laptops, and others processed with their own processors and hardware as well as Software like Kirin processors, Harmony OS, EMUI user interface, device models and many more.

Samsung and Microsoft also once tried to bring their own ecosystem and OS like Samsung Tizen and Microsoft Windows but they were not successful. Today Huawei is the only brand powerful enough to give tough competition to Google as well as Apple in the market.
