Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor - What's new?
Snapdragon already holds a major market of mobile processors by delivering its top-end high-performance CPUs and GPUs in most smartphones like LG, Xiaomi, Oppo, Oneplus, Realme, Vivo, Mi, Blackshark, ASUS, and many more.
After Qualcomm's highly efficient smartphone chips Snapdragon 855 and Snapdragon 865, they are entering 2021 with their even better mobile processor, Snapdragon 888 5G.
Qualcomm's Snapdragon 888 5G is better than it's predecessors in almost all aspects from performance to battery efficiency.
performance boost: Snapdragon 888 processor now uses 5nm processors from its predecessors 7nm chips, which means that the transistors are now more compact and so increases the performance of the overall chip as well as improving the battery efficiency. Snapdragon 888 processor also uses the new ARM-Cortex XI technology in its Qualcomm® Kryo™ 680 CPU, which is 25% faster.
GPU upgrade: Snapdragon 888 comes with a new Qualcomm® Adreno™ 660 GPU which delivers 35% faster graphics rendering. Qualcomm also featured some new features to enhance the overall gaming experience like Qualcomm® Game Quick Touch, increasing responsiveness up to 20% by reducing the latency between touch and response of the screen, Variable Rate Shading (VRS) for up to 30% performance improvement, and more.
5G: since the world is now shifting to 5G and so Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 888 processor comes with the integrated 5G modem which improves the performance, power efficiency as well as reduces space consumption.
AI and ML: Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor delivers higher performance in the fields which uses AI and ML, like image rendering, filters, and more with its 6th-gen AI Engine that includes the Qualcomm® Hexagon™ 780 Processor with a fused AI-accelerator architecture, plus the Tensor Accelerator with 2 times the compute capacity.
Camera performance: Qualcomm is taking mobile photography to a whole new level with its new Qualcomm Spectra™ 580 ISP. It delivers some amazing features like recording through all three cameras at the same time separately as well as combined to result in a high-quality photo or video with a throughput of 2.7 gigapixels per second—35% faster than the predecessor. Also, you can now record 120Hz 4K video smoothly.
